The book presents the consolidated 2026 edition of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978, together with the STCW Code. It sets out international requirements for the training, certification, competence, medical fitness and watchkeeping of seafarers, including standards for deck and engine departments, radio operators, specialized shipboard duties, safety, security, emergency response and medical care. The edition incorporates amendments adopted through 2024 and includes both mandatory standards and recommended guidance for their implementation.
