This book addresses maritime security issues in Africa, including piracy, kidnapping, terrorism, smuggling, illegal fishing, and marine pollution. It examines the historical, political, economic, and legal aspects of maritime instability in the Gulf of Guinea, off the coast of Somalia, Mozambique, the Mediterranean, the Suez Canal, and the Red Sea. Special attention is paid to international cooperation, the role of the African Union, the EU, and NATO, as well as the development of legal mechanisms, educational programs, and national naval capabilities to strengthen maritime security.
