The book focuses on the role of the dominions of the British Empire, such as Australia, Canada and New Zealand, in naval defense and military operations during the First and Second World Wars. At the beginning of the 20th century, the British Empire was at the peak of its power, but over time, the dominions began to strive for greater independence, which affected their military forces. After the Imperial Conference of 1926, the dominions began to be treated as members of the British Commonwealth of Nations, which contributed to the creation of more independent naval forces. Although their role was limited in World War I, during World War II, especially with the stretched resources of the Royal Navy, the dominions played a significant role in naval operations. Their naval forces actively participated in battles in various theaters of war, including the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, facing serious challenges and losses. Despite the fact that the contributions of these fleets are often forgotten, the book emphasizes the importance of their participation in the Allied victory and seeks to restore justice to their merits.
