The purpose of the Mobile Facilities volume of the IAMSAR Manual is to offer practical guidance for conducting SAR operations with a focus on planning, execution and coordination. The volume is organized in different sections which provide focused guidance on distress alerts and messages; medical assistance; vessel and aircraft emergencies, including initial actions and multiple aircraft operations; on-scene communications, coordination and contact with the media; SAR planning and other aspects of SAR, including underwater and land rescue; dealing with survivors and handling of deceased persons; and other training aspects.
The Manual is published jointly by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
