In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the authors note that a temporary decrease in human activity has given the oceans the opportunity to recover a little, which demonstrates the need for a more sustainable approach to the use of marine resources. The second edition of the Research Handbook on International Marine Environmental Law offers new analyses and integrative approaches to key issues such as legal fragmentation and the need for public participation. Each section of the book is an original study covering new and relevant topics that were not covered in the first edition.
