The book consists of several parts, the first of which is devoted to "Marine corrosion of stainless steels" and includes five chapters that review tests conducted in the 1990s to assess the corrosion activity of European marine waters (Atlantic, Baltic, English Channel, Mediterranean Sea and North Sea) in relation to three types of stainless of steel. These studies were conducted within the framework of two joint programs organized by various European laboratories in eight countries. The first chapter is an introduction that describes the procedures, objectives, and participants of one of the programs, while the remaining four chapters are devoted to experimental methods, data on critical temperature corrosion, results from crack corrosion studies, and biofilm data. The remaining 23 chapters of the book cover broader topics related to marine corrosion of stainless steels, including material selection, testing and experience, and protection and monitoring. These sections contain updated reviews and reports that develop the topics discussed in the first part and are confirmed by the authors.
